As your child may have mentioned, after Christmas, I will teach anoyone who wants to, how to knit toques. I have a few looms, but I recommend buying your own as it can take months before one frees up.

You can buy a set of 4 looms, but unless you are planning on making cowls or baby toques, buying the individual loom at Michaels is probably your best bet. If you aren't familiar with Michaels, you can sign up for their emails and get 50% off coupons.
The best yarn for beginners is just a basic worsted weight as pictured above. There is a large selection of this at Michaels. You can find it in the first row of yarn across from all the crochet and knitting needles (also where you will find the looms)
You will want to look for the number 4 on the label, like the pictures. Students will need 2 balls of this. They can be the same colour or mixed!
